Horizontal Fall Leaves

They lay quietly on the ground like a book whose cover pleads to be opened and read. The leaves have a story awaiting their chance to speak of their time, when they danced in the wind, caught the drops of rain, shaded the bird in its nest and covered the family that waited beneath its tree’s branches, guarding and protecting them from the sweltering heat. Even though we may not speak words our colors reveal our beautiful existence and untold stories.
